Why Thrift?

In 2016, Charles Thrift set out to provide developers and owners focus on creating unique ground floor experiences.

Evolving With a Growing City

The city was changing and so were the expectations for new real estate projects. Charlotte is a much different city than it was five years ago. So is Thrift CRES. Today the firm includes 10 associates, and our services include leasing and brokerage, pre-construction consulting, land acquisitions and tenant representation. As Charlotte began to evolve, it was apparent that there was a real need to focus on this experience, not only to enhance the project and neighborhood, but to provide greater returns for ownership.

Started In South End

We have partnered with some of the premier developers and owners in the country and understand expectations that make a project unique and profitable. Our team has been involved in the forefront of the transformation of one of the most unique neighborhoods in the country. South End was anchored by a mix of industrial buildings and a smattering of wood-framed apartments.

Neighborhood Focus

Over the past four years we have completed nearly 70 retail transactions that we believe have had an impact on creating Charlotte’s most walkable neighborhood. It would appear obvious today as to the market, but it wasn’t that long ago that we were having to truly sell the submarket as a good alternative to some traditional suburban neighborhoods.

Adding Value to Charlotte

We take pride in creating experiences that not only enhance the project, but truly are impactful on our city. We want to work on projects that make a difference. We believe that we do business differently and we want to work with owners that work the same.
